atelier no.22, textile acrylic, 2009

LIFE’s TOO SHORT not to let loose every once in a while and have a little fun. The French said it best, joie de vivre, which means– the joy of living.

True experimental art challenges the norm. And although the modern, B&W drip-painted panel resembles ‘art time’ at the local kindergarten, it’s actually the perfect representation of composed chaos. No rules. No order. Just pure, raw unleashed creativity.

The drip/splatter technique is made up of several direct & forceful movements, which allow for a controlled execution. But once the paint leaves the brush random, varied results occur. As the piece progresses, subtle rhythmic and fluid undertones begin to emerge, capturing the unpredictable energy of each paint fling.

No doubt, the lively, contemporary method adds spirit & style to the austere ATELIER No.22 panel, but it also best conveys this young studio’s motto– creative liberty rules!
